“Sure, she is a Disney star, but I wouldn’t necessarily cast her more after her current issues,” a director tells HollywoodLife.com. Despite Demi’s star power with the younger crowd, our insider thinks that the industry shouldn’t reward these young celebrities for their rebellious behavior. “I seem to think that we should stay away from the Demi’s and Lindsay’s of the world till they can get their act together!”
The difference between Miley and Demi right now is that Miley’s activities aren’t getting in the way of her work, while Demi’s trip to rehab has halted production on Sonny with a Chance and caused her to drop out of the Jonas Brothers Camp Rock 2 tour.
“We are not surprised by Miley and have become accustomed to her behavior and yet she still is seemly handling the pressures as well as we can expect from an 18-year-old,” a producer tells us. “I think we see Demi as a little more fragile and wonder if she is able to continue to handle the pressures of this industry.”
Yet another director has a different opinion on Demi’s recent indiscretions and what they mean to her career. In fact, he thinks Demi’s time in treatment makes her MORE marketable.
“This episode gives Demi so much more character, and it adds another layer,” he admits. “Granted, I would like everyone to be healthy. Demi going in for treatment shows she is gaining responsibility for her actions, and that is a great quality. This actually takes her out of that Disney bubble and gives her substance.”
